Senior Planning Center is available to help Mainers of all Ages with Health and Life Insurance
Medicare and Health Insurance
Q: Does Senior Planning Center represent most of the Medicare plans in Maine?
A: Yes. SPC represents most of the major Medicare Health Plans in the state, including Aetna, Anthem, Humana, Martin’s Point, UnitedHealthcare, and WellCare. While we offer a wide range of options, we do not represent every plan available in your area. For a full list of regional options, you can contact Medicare.gov or 1-800-MEDICARE.
Health Insurance
Q: Do you offer Health Insurance for individuals under age 65?
A: Yes. In addition to Medicare, we help with Health Insurance through the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and other individual health plans. We help Mainers navigate the marketplace to find available subsidies and coverage that fits their needs.
Q: Where can I meet with a Senior Planning Center agent in person?
A: We have a statewide team of agents all over Maine. You can also visit us at our offices in Auburn, Bangor, Belfast, Farmington, Presque Isle, Sanford, and Skowhegan. If you cannot make it to an office, our agents are happy to provide a home visit.
Life & Final Expense Insurance
Q: What is the difference between Life Insurance and Final Expense Insurance?
A: Life Insurance typically provides a larger death benefit designed to replace income or cover major debts like a mortgage. Final Expense Insurance is a type of whole life policy specifically intended to cover end-of-life costs, such as funeral services and remaining medical bills, ensuring these expenses do not fall on your family.
Q: Can I get Final Expense Insurance if I have a pre-existing health condition?
A: Yes. Many Final Expense plans are “guaranteed issue,” meaning there are no medical exams required for qualification. Our agents specialize in finding coverage options for Maine seniors regardless of their health history.
Fixed Annuities & Retirement
Q: How does a Fixed Annuity help with retirement planning?
A: A Fixed Annuity is a contract with an insurance company that guarantees a specific interest rate on your investment. It provides a predictable, steady stream of income, making it a popular choice for Retirement Planning for those looking to avoid market volatility.
Q: Are Fixed Annuities taxed in the state of Maine?
A: Interest earned in a fixed annuity is typically tax-deferred until you begin taking withdrawals. Because tax laws can vary based on individual circumstances, we recommend speaking with a licensed agent at your local branch to discuss your specific financial situation.
